Long Island Lutheran Middle & High School (LuHi) officially opened its doors in 1960. From its beginning, the private school developed a student body rich in ethnic, religious, economic, and social diversity, a tradition that continues today. It grew into a strong college-preparatory school, always forward-thinking in its educational philosophy. Its core mission endures, providing a middle and high school experience where God’s young people can achieve, believe and belong – becoming thoughtful, learned leaders, developing a personal faith life, and belonging to an extended family.

Since LuHi opened, faculty has been educating and shaping compassionate, well-rounded young men and women through a rigorous academic program, and a kind and nurturing community. The renovation of the Upper and Middle School Classroom Building will include modernization and reconfiguration of classrooms and faculty spaces, new mechanical systems and the introduction of an elevator to provide ADA accessibility. This project is the first in series of potential projects to be advanced by the school as part of a comprehensive campus master plan. The approximately 30,000sf of interior space will receive all new finishes and lighting, furniture, and window treatments suitable to the student age and uses. MEP upgrades include installation of new heating/cooling units, sprinkler coverage in entire building, and new exhaust fume hoods in STEM classrooms. Exterior work includes new window and façade installation at specific elevations.
