Construction began in 2025 for Breaking Grounds newest supportive and affordable residence, 1760 Third Avenue in East Harlem. When complete, this adaptive reuse project will be home to 434 formerly homeless and low-income households, including a set-aside of 40 units for young adults aging out of the foster care system or who have experienced homelessness.
The 19- story all affordable housing complex is designed by Dattner Architects and developed by Breaking Ground, New York’s largest non-profit supportive housing developer, the project involves the conversion of a former dormitory for Hunter College and Baruch College.
